Family Day works best when it isn’t overplanned.
Our favourite Family Day stays follow a familiar rhythm.
Slow breakfast.
Board games at the table.
A winter hike.
Early dinner.
Another game night.
Many families head to a Provincial Park for winter walks and snowshoeing. The trails are quiet, the scenery does the heavy lifting, and kids burn energy without needing entertainment.
Back at the cottage, board games take over. Not because they were planned, but because nothing else is competing for attention.
Family Day isn’t about squeezing in activities.
It’s about shared time that doesn’t feel rushed.
